Activity Breaks
Brechfa Bunkhouse provides an ideal based for exploring Brechfa Forest and Llanllnwi Mountain on foot, horseback and cycling.
All of the tracks running through Brechfa Forest are open to walkers, riders and cyclists as is the network of footpaths, bridleways and byways running over Llanllwni Mountain.
This part of Wales is famous for its fishing opportunities, and there is a canoeing centre just 8 miles away.
Brechfa Bunkhouse combines 4 star accommodation with an outside washdown area, a drying room and storage for your specialist equipment.
Trails
In addition to the walking leaflets supplied by the Forestry Commission I have put together details of trails so that guests who wish to walk, cycle or ride from Brechfa Bunkhouse to vantage points, historical sites, wildlife rich spots, or a local pub for lunch can do so.
Alternatively design your own route choosing from the new website with information on local heritage sites.
Kite flying, Playing Pooh Sticks or Wild Swimming
If you want to relive your childhood by just enjoying the simple pleasures of being outdoors there is a box of kites available and maps showing the best bridges and pools in the Cothi River where people go to swim.

Want to try something different?
There are mountain bike hire companies, horse treking centers, canoe training and fishing instructors locally as well as laser quest, gorge walking, sea life boat trips, dry ski slope available in the general area. Please ask for a list of contacts for any activites you are interested in or go to the ToDo Activity section of the website for ideas.
Bad Weather
The BBQ area is under cover, so guests plans to cook outdoor can continue whatever the weather.
With comfortable sofas by the log fire and a wide selection of books, videos and dvd's those who don't want to venture outdoors can still enjoy their stay. Guests are welcome to bring games consoles with them to attach to the TV.
The forest provides shelter from the worst of the wind, and has a range of tracks including stoney surfaces installed by the forestry commission for harvesting. So even in long periods of bad weather there are routes you can use with appropriate outdoor clothing.
Different Interests?
The high ratio of showers to bed spaces and design of the hot water system means everyone can enjoy a hot shower at the end of a busy day before sitting around the log fire to talk about their chosen activity for the day, or heading down to one of the local 'watering holes'.
